Skinner Releasing Ongoing Intensive

July 20 - 31, Monday - Friday
With Robert Davidson
Presented by Skinner Releasing Institute

Instructor Robert Davidson returns to Seattle this summer to teach Ongoing Skinner Releasing Technique and Improvisation in this two-week intensive in the spacious Dance Underground Studios. Classes scheduled in the afternoons, with
Wednesday sessions starting at 11:00 a.m.

Ongoing Skinner Releasing: All twelve of Joan Skinner's remarkable foundation classes will be taught. The poetic imagery from these classes produces powerful movement experiences, fostering freedom, energy and presence. The open and available state from Releasing class will carry over into daily improvisation. Exploring inner and outer impulses, structures and scores will develop and refine movement language in solo, duet and ensemble dancing.

Note: This intensive ends on a Friday, and the following Monday the Seattle Festival of Improvised Dance (SFADI) begins. Consider adding this wonderful improvisation festival to your schedule to make a full three weeks of exciting dancing!

About Robert Davidson: Formerly director of the Skinner Releasing School in Seattle, Bob has been training SRT teachers with Joan Skinner for over thirty years. He was an original member of Joan's American Contemporary Dance Company as well as the Music and Dance Ensemble of Skinner Releasing. In 1987 he formed his own aerial dance company and successfully toured both America and Europe, performing his signature work "Airborne: Meister Eckhart" with ensembles of twenty to forty performers. He currently is Head of Movement at the National Theatre Conservatory in Denver.

The Skinner Releasing Technique™ facilitates natural grace, the imagination and psychophysical transformation. Partner studies and guided poetic imagery foster freedom from hidden tension patterns and trigger spontaneous improvised movement. Dancers experience alignment as nature intended. Technical growth and the creative process are cultivated simultaneously. This vital practice not only frees the muscles and bones, but transforms how dancers perceive and experience life itself.
